The erstwhile Novomatic Automatenhandels GmbH was founded in 1980 by Prof. Johann F. Graf. The production of its first slot machines marked the beginning of a corporate success story rarely matched in Austria or elsewhere. An official recognition by the Republic of Austria came as early as 1986 with the award of the Austrian Coat of Arms through the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Established in 1990 as a holding company, Novomatic AG together with its Swiss sister companies Admiral Casinos & Entertainment (ACE) and Casino Systems Holding AG (C.S.C.), combine a number of internationally successful companies forming the Novomatic Group of Companies.

The members of the Group include:

• Austrian Gaming Industries GmbH (AGI), the original bearer of the name Novomatic that was renamed in 1996 and is today a world market leader in the realm of cutting-edge casino technology and interactive live games;

• Admiral Sportwetten GmbH (ASW), which is the undisputed Austrian market leader in the realm of betting offices.

All of them contribute to make the Novomatic Group of Companies to one of the largest integrated gaming groups in the world – the global player Novomatic.
