Novomatic Group of Companies entered the markets of the EU Accession States immediately after the Fall of the Iron Curtain. Based on the strong belief of Novomatic founder Prof. Johann F. Graf that the future united Europe would go far beyond the limits of the European Community as it existed at the time, Novomatic established a number of companies in the early 90's including European Data Project (EDP) in the Czech Republic, which with its 20000 square metres of manufacturing facilities and two production plants in Komořany (wood processing, assembly) and Rousínov (metal processing) is a technology leader in the Czech Republic creating more than 400 skilled jobs.

Subsequently, EDP acquired Paradise Casino, from which has emerged Paradise Casino Admiral, expanding the number of operations to eight casinos and nine gaming outlets in major cities in the Czech Republic and providing sustainable employment for approximately 300 people.

A similarly successful commitment in Poland involved a joint venture with the University of Engineering of Cracow from which emerged Advanced Technology Systems International (ATSI). ATSI boasts modern facilities where approximately 200 employees are actively involved in the development of leading-edge technology.

In a joint venture with Eesti Loto, the state-owned Estonian lotteries company, Novoloto was founded and currently operates 7 gaming establishments in Estonia making it a market leader in the Estonian Republic.

In Latvia, Novomatic is the undisputed marketleader with more than 2,000 machines that are operated in about 100 slot-arcades.

Novomatic's early pioneering activities and strategic positioning anticipated the enlargement of the European Union, whilst promoting Austrian business culture through its efforts to build new enterprises on a fair partnership basis.
