AGI starts campaign against product piracy

Austrian Gaming Industries GmbH (AGI), 100 percent subsidiary of the Novomatic Group of Companies, presented new games and launched a spectacular campaign against pirate copies of its products at the World of Games in Moscow.

The 2nd day of the World of Games 2006 in Moscow featured a spectacular event: AGI held a special press event and officially declared war on Russian product piracy and announced the launch of a campaign against any persons who infringe its intellectual property. In a vivid demonstration witnessed by representatives of the local and international press and tv-teams, AGI steamrollered pirate copies of its products on the parking space in front of the Crocus Expo Centre in Moscow.

The company, with headquarters in Gumpoldskirchen near Vienna, is well renowned for highly innovative gaming technology and state-of-the-art game design, and invests high expenditure every year in research and development in order to continuously develop new products and designs. As a market leading and trend-setting producer AGI sells its highly popular products only to licensed casinos and amusement parks all over the world. Yet in Russia, where AGI cooperates with the distributing partners CATS and GameOne, an increase in the number of pirate copies of AGI-products became recently noticeable.

“It is always very enjoyable to see how the market adheres to our slogan “Novomatic leads, others follow” – but in Russia we observed cases of gross imitation,” says Jens Halle, Managing Director AGI. “We decided to take measures and launch this campaign against pirate copies of our products with the assistance of an internationally renowned law firm. We want to rectify the position of our original Novomatic products on the Russian market and highlight the obvious strengths of our products in quality and reliability - and we will exhaust all avenues in doing so.”

Also the product news at the Novomatic booth drew big crowds. Three brand-new games were presented in the original Gaminator® Professional cabinet and attracted a great deal of attention. Premiere players were invited to experience the magic of gaming with Illusionist™, had the opportunity to experiment with precious riches in Jokers Jewels™ and partied with the self-explanatory Party On™. But also numerous recent gaming hits were on show again and received high visitor traffic.

Jens Halle is very pleased with the result of the show: “The World of Games was a very positive show – the visitors were very interested and our games were well frequented and received tremendous response. The success at the World of Games proves that the market recognises the original Novomatic quality and encourages us in our actions against pirate copies.”
