Press Release November 15, 2006 Casino Wernigerode resumes old tradition with AGI gaming equipment On September 29th, the new casino of the Spielbanken Sachsen-Anhalt GmbH opened in Wernigerode. In a central location in the heart of the medieval town, visitors find, among others, state of the art gaming equipment of the wholly owned subsidiary of Novomatic Group of Companies, Austrian Gaming Industries GmbH (AGI). After a century of absence the traditional “speelhus” (playhouse/amusement hall) has finally returned to Wernigerode. The new location is now, unlike up to the mid 15th century when it was in the old guildhall, in the building of the traditional Wernigerode printing house. Yet historic about the new casino is merely the charming ambience and the site in the heart of the Old Town.
