Press Release December 18, 2006 AGI debuts at Chile Casinos trade show 2006 Novomatic Group of Companies and its wholly owned subsidiary Austrian Gaming Industries GmbH (AGI) showed its extensive product range at this year’s Chile Casinos, from December 5–7 in Santiago de Chile. The Chile Casinos is a young trade show that, with 3,000 visitors in 2005, was a great success with plenty of promise. But unfortunately the second outing for the show in 2006 experienced a drastic decline in exhibitors as well as registered visitors. The reasons for this decline are manifold and have been discussed at length: a tight schedule with big international trade shows like Sagse and G2E not far away on the busy calendar, the upcoming ICE only a month ahead, and the current situation in the Chilean market with partial delays in the tender process have all been a significant influence. Despite a poor attendance AGI sees this year’s trade show in Chile as a long-term investment in the developing South American markets. Novomatic always tries to establish its name in emerging markets at an early stage. Thus they also seized the opportunity to introduce the new sales representative for Latin America, Rudolf Lenhart, and to announce the opening of a new sales office in Santiago de Chile. Novomatic is also part of a consortium which has applied for one of the new casino licences – a decision will be expected within the next weeks. “We have observed very positive developments in South America – particularly the market in Chile is, with up to 17 new casino licenses, very promising, ” Jens Halle, Managing Director AGI, is very positive. “If we get a license, we will build the biggest casino in South America. The project features an Entertainment and Casino Resort with a great number of machines, a hotel and conference centres. The planned location is outside Santiago de Chile, half an hour drive from the centre, so that it very well covers the area of Santiago. We are really looking forward to the decision and eagerly hope that the panel decides for us. We can offer the region an attractive first-rate entertainment concept and a considerable number of new jobs; on-site in our resort as well as on the side of business partners such as service providers and suppliers.” “We decided to take part in this year’s Chile Casinos trade show in order to further establish our products in Chile and show our commitment and presence. Even though only a few visitors found their way to the show, those few were very important business and sales contacts crucial to creating a successful expansion in the region. We are convinced that AGI’s broad product portfolio is able to provide operators in Latin America with the gaming equipment their customers demand.“ Contact information: |
